Rick Gerardi PRINCIPAL
Rick Gerardi continues to be an industry leader in designing and implementing innovative programs and businesses for improved energy efficiency and building performance for three decades. He has had demonstrated success at state and national levels in both the public and private sectors in fulfilling the promise of a focused strategic vision to realization. Rick has been a pioneer and advocate of market-based approaches to program deployment designed to develop a sustainable market for residential energy efficiency as an inherent value to consumers and a viable business model.
Rick will bring his unique expertise gained through years of both public and private sector involvement with the home performance industry. Rick headed the New York State Weatherization Assistance Program for fourteen years, before creating the residential deployment programs for NYSERDA, including the original Home Performance with Energy Star program. Rick went on to private sector rolls at both Lockheed Martin, and more recently MASCO’s WellHome Home Performance initiative. Rick’s experience extended to new home construction with innovative Energy Star Homes program design at NYSERDA and heading up MASCO’s Environments for Living business unit which works with large scale builders across the country and conduct over 20% of all HERS ratings in the country.
Rick developed and implemented the most successful low-mid and rental / split incentive home performance program in the country while running the NY Home Performance with Energy Star program for NYSERDA. The innovative approach to this hard to reach market resulted in significant uptake in these hard to reach sectors, which now comprise 45% of the total program. While at NYSERDA Rick worked closely with TRC Energy Solutions in implementing the innovative Multifamily Building Performance Program which is now a national model for addressing that sector. Rick is currently consulting with LBNL as a recognized thought leader on strategies to engage moderate income homeowners.
